How to setup Network Load-balancing

On Server1 - Rename Local Connection 2 to NLB.  The NLB network adapter will be used for load-balancing activity.

Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage network connections

On Server 2 - perform the same operation on Server2 renaming the network adapter to NLB.

Adjusting the network settings

On Server1, adjust the NLB network adapter settings to
Primary IP Address - 192.168.0.69
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0

No DNS settings or default gateway

On Server2, adjust the NLB network adapter to
Primary IP Address - 192.168.0.71
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
No DNS settings or default gateway
 

On Server1, select Network Load-balancing manager in Administrative Tools

Select Cluster

New Cluster

Type Server1 and click Connect

 

Select the NLB network adapter

Click Next

Click Next

Click Add

Type in 192.168.0.80 as the virtual ip, 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.

Click Next

Type in example1.com

Click Edit

Change the Port Range From 80 to 80

Change Filtering Mode > Affinity to None

Click OK

Click Finish

Notice Server 1 added to the configuration.  Try browsing to the vip from a remote machine.

Add Server2 to the cluster

Right Click on example1.com, add Host

Type in Server2, Click Connect

Select NLB interface name

Click Next

Click Next

Click Finish
